Start a children’s room plan with the functions it needs to support. Measure the room and allocate space for sleeping, activities and storage before choosing colours and decoration.
Begin with fixed features
Draw doors, windows, radiators and built in cupboards. Mark opening doors and drawers, then add the outside dimensions of larger children’s furniture. A mattress size is not necessarily the bed’s full footprint.
The same item may appear in several collections. Use its product page as the common source for dimensions, installation and package contents.
Match table and chair
For children’s tables and chairs, compare seat height, table height and the intended user rather than colour alone. Check whether the listing is a set or an individual item. Two chairs in a photograph do not prove both are included.
Store things near their activity
Put books near reading space and building pieces near floor play. A few organised containers can be easier to manage than many mixed boxes. Read the dedicated Montessori inspired storage guide and compare shelves and storage. Follow anchoring instructions; low furniture is not automatically exempt.
Add decoration last
Garlands and hanging decorations, cushions and covers and canopies each have their own placement and use requirements. Keep loose cords and hanging decorations beyond children’s reach and separate decoration from an infant’s sleeping environment.
Browse the full children’s room collection once the layout works. Leaving out an extra piece can sometimes make the existing room easier to use.
